New Delhi, January 21: The Congress has released its second list of candidates for the Delhi assembly polls, where the party has nominated former NSUI Delhi unit president Romesh Sabharwal to take on Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal from New Delhi constituency.
This is the first major election of Romesh Sabharwal’s 40-year political career.
Former NSUI Delhi unit president Romesh Sabharwal on Monday had shared two pictures of his resume on Twitter, requesting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and party general secretary Priyanka Gandhi to give him the chance to contest the forthcoming elections.
In his tweet, Sabharwal said he had given his youth to the Congress and alleged that Arvind Kejriwal’s agents inside the party were trying to scuttle his chances and prevent him from contesting the Assembly elections.
Calling Kejriwal an outsider, Sabharwal says his background of being from a family of government servants and the constituency dominated by the service class will get him victory against Kejriwal.
The Delhi Assembly elections are scheduled to be held on February 8 and the results will be announced on February 11.
